My creative story
Hi! I'm Lisa Berkouwer, a mural artist and illustrator, based in The Hague, Netherlands. I create custom murals for individuals, businesses and public spaces and sell prints of my art in my shop!
As a child I always said: “Every drawing needs yellow, because yellow is the happy color.” And although I don’t necessarily use yellow in every illustration anymore, I still fully stand behind this philosophy of spreading happiness with my art.
My art aims to take us out of our daily routine for a moment, add color to our surroundings, and with that, to our day and life.

Turning a lifelong passion into a creative career
I’ve been drawing for as long as I can hold a pencil. As a child, I was always creating, until the familiar obligations of "adulthood" took over. Opening my art shop is my way of keeping alive the little girl inside me who dreamed of only making art.

Maybe you have that little girl or boy inside you too. My work is a celebration of the childlike imagination and playfulness we all carry within us, the part that sometimes just needs a nudge to come alive again. It’s an ode to those childhood dreams, when your grandfather asked: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

Creating murals & spreading colour
​A thoughtfully designed mural has the ability to shape environments into welcoming, inspiring places where people naturally want to be. This is what I love about creating murals so much: it truly has a positive impact on our day to day life. By brightening up the spaces that we move and work in, we can brighten up our lives.
