Time Travel
The Hague, Netherlands
Time travel isn’t possible. Or is it? When we create art, we are able to capture a specific moment in time. In this way, the intangible is suddenly made tangible. We can never truly hold on to time; it is never ours to keep. Moments slip through our fingers, yet the art remains, traveling with us.
These drawings form an intimate dialogue between the artist and a younger version through recreating the drawings she drew as a child. There is a part that may have been forgotten through the years of growing up, of shaping creativity into something productive, something profitable. In that process, something was quietly lost, something that now seeks to be found again. With this project, the question rises, what happens when we return to the origin of our creativity?
Next to artistic growth and changes of medium, you will find meaning and symbols that show the change of the artist’s inside and outside world, which makes us reflect on what it means to become an adult in our current time. In this way, time travel ultimately explores the impermanence of existence and the evolving nature of who we are, or think we are.
This project was exhibited at The Grey Space in the Middle in March 2026 during CTRL ALT Create, an art festival showcasing emerging artists of The Hague.
